CORNELL WINE COMPANY
BARGAIN BAROLO!

REVERDITO 2006 BAROLO
$20.00

In the 7 years we’ve owned Cornell Wine Company, this is the first time we’ve been able to offer a BAROLO for $20.00

GREG ZANCANELLA, one of Portland’s great importer/distributors, has been importing REVERDITO’S wines for a few years, but this is the first vintage he has imported of the “basic” BAROLO. We carry the single-vineyard CODANE bottling that was popular at our last NEBBIOLO tasting.

This what Gambero Rosso’s 2010 Italian Wines says about REVERDITO: “There is no stopping the young Reverdito winery in its quest for professional development. Once again, we cannot stress too much the great commitment shown by all the members of the family in cellar and vineyard. Revervito wines offer character and substance at very reasonable prices.”

Having tasted this wine twice in the last two weeks, I can say that although it is not a great Barolo, it is a great $20 bottle of wine for those of you that love NEBBIOLO – and who doesn’t!

We have two cases arriving this afternoon – Greg has already sold everything from the first shipment, but more is arriving in early November. We will sell today’s wine and take orders for the November delivery.

Cheers,

Mick and Pauline

CORNELL WINE COMPANY
BARGAIN BAROLO!

REVERDITO 2007 BAROLO
$24.75
$240.00/case (=$20.00/bottle)

MICHELE REVERDITO’S winery is still a fairly young operation, but already is receiving high praise. This is what Gambero Rosso Italian Wines 2011 said:

“This young operation with superb vineyard sources is determinedly stalking the highest quality possible at an impressive pace. All the wines we tasted demonstrated an expressive viguor and varietal clarity truly amongst the best in the area. Last but certainly not least, accolades for very judicious price tags.”

The guide awarded Tre Bichieri (its highest award) for the single vineyard Cogni Barolo, but said “The other Barolos were very good indeed” and awarded them all Due Bichieri.

Very little was imported into Oregon, and local importer Greg Zancanella has pre-sold it all. I have not tasted the wine, but the previous vintage was very good, and a real steal. All Reverdito’s wines offer great value for money. His in-stock 2008 LANGHE NEBBIOLO “SIMANE” is only $15.75

Cheers,

Mick
